Anxiety wean update

I decided to come off anxiety medication a short while ago. Before I had meds for anxiety I don’t really remember what I was like as a person. Quite an unsettling thought really. What I gather from how I currently feel is that I think way too much, with the meds this was something that started to stop. Now, I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to think, I have quite the opposite opinion. Overthinking however is not great and doesn’t really have a positive effect on your life. The mind is weird and anxiety is weird. I know how my body reacts to anxiety and at the moment I cannot see a concern. I feel like I’ll have the right amount of rational anxiety when I finally expel this medication from my system. But I’ll just have to wait and see. BCL says

A comfort zone is a great place but nothing grows there

Yet again my dear friend has given me inspiration for another blog post. Suffering from anxiety is difficult and certain situations that others get normally anxious about we only get anxious about more. Even without anxiety most people like to stick with what they know and live within something they see as 'their comfort zone'. The title of this post could not be more true. Anytime you start something new you think about what you used to have, and how you wish you had that comfort again. You also like to stick with things and even people you find familiar. As soon as you step out of your comfort zone, whatever it may be you will grow as a person. You will experience new things, like meet new people. These new things in your life are scary as hell because you don't know where you stand with them and that is an uncomfortable feeling.  What you need to remember is every new beginning, every new challenge will become the norm after a while, even though it doesn't feel like ...

Relationships are lessons

I don’t know for sure but I’m pretty sure a lot of people can relate to the title of this blog post. Every relationship I have been in I have learnt things about myself and how to do this whole relationship stuff as correctly as I possibly can. I’ve also learnt about different types of relationships and how each partner has a different take on how to be my partner. Relationships are wonderful but they are also hard work. They are not hard work because loving someone is hard, it’s painful yes, but not hard. They are hard work because you need to adjust to another person and how they see fit to behave and be ok with it. You may think you know how it’s going to be when you date someone based on previous relationships but you don’t. They are all different. For example, you get the people who will text you constantly and then you’ll get the people who do not see it as necessary, unless they have something to say. I’ve been in both of these situations and I can tell you now, I was so confuse...

If you’re completely happy in your own company you’re winning at life

I love my own company more than the company of most people.   I can be on my own and be entirely happy. I think this speaks volumes about how I feel about myself. I love myself and I’m happy in my own skin.  Also consider this, when you are on your own everything is on your terms and you can do what you like, when you like.  If you can enjoy being by yourself I believe you are winning at life. It’s the ultimate confirmation of being at peace with who you are and enjoying who you are.  You will always have yourself no matter what, so why not love it? It’s such a waste otherwise. BCL says

Being in love

On my way to work this morning I noticed a young school couple. The looks on their faces, looking at one another you can see how desperately they needed one another. Love makes you feel as if you cannot live without another person, wild as it is, it is true. Isn't it mad scary how someone you didn't even know existed can make you feel that they are your everything? It's also scary that love starts so young as well. People love, love and I also love, love. I think it is so wonderful to see love all around you. It makes me happy to know that two people can make each other feel like they can get through anything together. You believe in one another so much, that life doesn't seem so bad. Again, love is so powerful and so scary because on the flip side, if people break up, one or maybe both of those people will feel like their world is shattered. They feel this way even though they were fine before they met that other person and they will be fine (in time) without them agai...

A conversation with a friend

Firstly, Happy New Year to all of my readers! A friend of mine at work asked me a question today, it was along the lines of: 'will I ever be loved by someone else as much as I love them'. Now, before my current relationship I was in a 5 year relationship where I fell out of love with my partner. Even though it was my decision to end it, I still asked myself the same question, 'will anyone love me like he did?' The answer to that question was and is YES. I know some people may sit there and read this and think, that's easy for you to say but you're not me or something else similar. The thing is, relationships are all the same in the sense that you fall in love, you sometimes love forever and sometimes you fall out of love. This is the same for every person in the entire world, the difference being that the relationship you have with your partner will be different to someone else's. I have proved myself wrong as I fell in love with someone else pretty soon aft...

Reading for anxiety

I first started reading when I left School and entered the working world. I did not realise then, how important reading would be to me throughout my struggles in life. I have been suffering from Generalised Anxiety Disorder for possibly 5 years now, but have only been aware for 3 years. I have found reading actually provides an escape for me where little else does. When you are having a hard time and all you want to do is not think about it, reading takes you to another life, another world and because of this, you forget your own problems and live through the fictional story instead. I know myself how crazy this all sounds but it works for me. I don't really understand it myself but all I know for sure is that reading makes me happy and happiness is all we ever want to experience in life. This isn't in any way, shape or form a sad post, it's the complete opposite. I'm writing about something important to me. If you don't read I truly think you should. I believe it i...
