Reading for anxiety

I first started reading when I left School and entered the working world. I did not realise then, how important reading would be to me throughout my struggles in life. I have been suffering from Generalised Anxiety Disorder for possibly 5 years now, but have only been aware for 3 years. I have found reading actually provides an escape for me where little else does.

When you are having a hard time and all you want to do is not think about it, reading takes you to another life, another world and because of this, you forget your own problems and live through the fictional story instead.

I know myself how crazy this all sounds but it works for me. I don't really understand it myself but all I know for sure is that reading makes me happy and happiness is all we ever want to experience in life.

This isn't in any way, shape or form a sad post, it's the complete opposite. I'm writing about something important to me.

If you don't read I truly think you should. I believe it is one of the best things to do with your time and I like to think if you give it a go you won't turn back. Look at it as an escape because then you'll feel what I feel.

How people see you

Morning, I’ll get right to it.  So, I was in the middle of a conversation with a work colleague today and another colleague joined in and I reacted to something they said. For some odd reason this made me think about how people see me. I can’t see how I look to others, my body language, my facial expressions, I’m blind to how I look to other people. I’m not sure how I feel about this, I mean I would really like to know how I look to other people.  Have you ever thought this too or is this just how my mind works? I bet you’re thinking about it now though right?  BCL says

Empathy

Being an empath is the worse, sure it can feel good if the feelings are positive but more often than not, they are negative. I feel everything, so much so, that if someone cries on tv or in a film I will also cry. This is hard work. I want to be there for people I love and I always will be but it will be a rollercoaster of emotions for me as well. This is exactly why I limit what negativity I allow into my life, such as things I cannot control that will only make me feel sad or angry, e.g. world issues. It’s hard to not feel it all, it’s not that I don’t care, I would care too much.  Can anyone else relate?  I hope anyone who is reading this post is healthy and happy and if not, don’t worry you will be.  BCL says

Memory lane

Do you ever wish you could go back in time and be a kid again? I’m sure most of us do as adulthood isn’t the best. Kids don’t realise how good they have it.  I’m currently on a packed train, it’s Sunday morning and I woke up in a mood. It’s led me to try to reminisce about my childhood, when I was carefree. Kids don’t get scared, they embrace life and I wish I could feel like that over and over again. Sure kids can be scared, sure they can get sad, but it’s not the same. They don’t have the worries or the responsibilities of an adult.  Maybe adults love being parents so much because they can relive their childhood through their children. I love that I have my own mind, I like the person I am but I do wonder what it would be like to be that carefree again.  Happy Sunday everyone <3
